Zlatolist
Zlatolist Village is located in the Sandanski-Petrich valley in the southwestern foothills of the Pirin Mountain near the town of Sandanski and Melnik.
The climate is transitional Mediterranean with a summer minimum and winter maximum of rainfall. The average annual rainfall amount is about 550 mm. Zlatolist to be reached through the village Katuntsi which is distant 7 km south of it.
The road in some places has not been asphalted. Melnik of the village is built eco-trail, which continues to Rozhen monastery.
On behalf of the village is named hill Zlatolist, situated on a peninsula Trinity, Antarctica.
Village Zlatolist arose as a homestead, which has developed into a village. Until 1951 the name of the village of Lower Sushitsa. Zlatolist new name in connection with the livelihood of the village, namely tobacco.
In the 19 century village is purely Bulgarian and belongs to Melnik said the Ottoman Empire.
In Ethnography of vilayets Adrianople, Monastir and Salonika, published in Constantinople in 1878 and reflecting statistics of the male population of 1873, Lower Sushitsa is listed as a village with 42 households with 150 inhabitants Bulgarians.
According to George Stresov 1891 Dry-year Sushitsa have 40 Bulgarian houses and church of St. George, which serves Greek. The majority of the population his living with the production of hoops for barrels and casks, which sells in Melnik.
According to statistics Vasil Kanchov (Macedonia. Ethnography and Statistics) from 1900 Lower Sushtitsa is inhabited by 440 residents, all Bulgarians Christian [4].
